More question than comment; do you add the bacon and onion to the oat mixture uncooked, or do you first cook them separately?

I'm glad you like the bake. You could make it with any veg/add-ins you like or with something sweet too!

I’ve been fermenting oats on and off for a couple of years now. I do it and then make baked oatmeal bars with pumpkin and whey protein. I also the next day, after fermentation, just toss the batch into a slow cooker very early in the morning and make a huge batch of it that lasts the week using milk, peanut butter, whey, and maple syrup. But I’m very interested in making the Fermented Oats Bake. I don’t eat pork, but I’d be hard pressed to pass up the onion and cheese. I make a lot of homemade bread, but this would be such a great breakfast bread. So many options……you have a great website. Thanks for your invaluable information and thoroughness….God Bless!!

I really liked this recipe! I don't eat bacon so I added chopped vegetables instead. My fiancee and I really liked the texture of the dish! I'm planning on doing it again with cooked mushrooms :)

Hi Stacy! I haven't but I say go for it! Sausage would work well, chopped up, and others cheeses would be fun to explore - I don't know what you have access to there but I can imagine a gouda or a pecorino working well. Let me know how you get on :-)
